| We are proud to host our Community Volunteers Program on
campus. This is a coordinated activity sponsored by our Communities in
Schools Program which is directed by Sonya Ramirez. Community patrons who
volunteer for this important program on our campus are
trained how to work one-on-one with students. Upon
completion of this training, community volunteers are assigned
students to work with in their academic program. A
large majority of our volunteers assist students in mastering
their reading skills as well as help in other content areas.
This special involvement has helped many of our Edgewood
students perform and progress more rapidly throughout the
academic year. Needless to say, both the students and
volunteers gain much out of this caring type of relationship
in their growth as children and students. We appreciate the time,
effort, and commitment of our Edgewood Community Volunteers! |
